With the new three-phase version of the ESS 076 Smart Sensor Current, STEGO is expanding its sensor portfolio with a compact solution for monitoring electrical loads in industrial applications. The sensor measures three-phase alternating currents without contact, making it easy to monitor machines, systems and industrial distribution cabinets.
The ESS 076 was specially developed for applications in which three-phase systems need to be reliably monitored and analyzed. Typical areas of application include mechanical engineering, industrial distribution cabinets and machine tools. The sensor also provides valuable data for energy analyses of larger systems or for identifying load peaks. The sensor measures the currents of all three phasessimultaneously. To do this, the conductors to be measured are simply fed through the integrated through-holes. Inside, three current transformers ensure that the measured currents are electrically isolated and reliably recorded.
A particular advantage: instead of three individual current sensors, only a single device is required. This reduces the installation effort and also the space required in the control cabinet. At the same time, only one port on the IO-Link master is occupied via IO-Link.
Digital IO-Link and analog interface
The three-phase ESS 076 offers both a digital IO-Link interface and a analog 4-20 mA interface. This allows the sensor to be integrated into both existing systems and modern automation architectures. Additional information such as current values, power and energy data as well as diagnostic information is also available via IO-Link . The measured current can be transmitted as a classic process signal via the analog interface.
Transparent energy data forefficient systems
The continuous measurement of electrical loads enables a wide range of applications: from analyzing the energy consumption of individual machines to creating load profiles for entire systems. Operators can use this data to detect load peaks, analyse energy consumption or identify optimization potential in plant operation, for example . This makes energy monitoring an important building block for more efficient production processes.
